Relational sensitivity and participatory practice: Exploring poise and punctuation through an empirical study
Applied
An autoethnographic study of a design team whose members had Authentic Relating training, asking what self-awareness and attunement to group dynamics look like in practice.
Three members of a university design team, including the author, kept journals over six weeks of planning meetings and analysed them together. The team credits its trust and its ability to name tensions partly to a shared background in Authentic Relating and facilitation. Sharing impressions deepened self-awareness but did not secure inclusion.
What it doesn’t show
Authentic Relating training is background, not something the study measures, and there are three participants.
